What is it anyway?

So I got on deviantART today to see that I had 444 messages! It might not seem that special to you, other than the triple-digit aspect of the number, (don't worry, I'm really not that popular, I just neglect to delete things.) but its a scary number for me! Sorta. Well, in China, the number 4 is allegedly an unlucky number because it's a homonym for the word "die". So in other words, seeing 444 is basically seeing "DIE DIE DIE!". Now, if only I were superstitious...

I'm sorry for the lack of new art recently. My previous excuse was school, but now school's out and I need a new one. I guess my mom would be it. She works from home, so she gets to watch me like a hawk/eagle (which one is it?) and make sure that my life is as miserable as can be. So while everyone else is off enjoying the sun, I'm stuck at home feigning interest in my bookshelves of ACT/SAT books.

So here's a 5 point summary of why I hate summer break:
1. It's grossly hot and humid outside, especially in Missouri.
2. I have to be around my mom 24/7.
3. It's supposed to be a break from work and school, but I'm doing more work now than I ever do during the school year...
4. ...With direly little human interaction.
5. Allergies.

Also, I would like to add that I indeed do not have tuberculosis C: You have no idea how happy that makes me!

It all started with an application to volunteer at a hospital. As a part of the application process, I was to take a mandatory PPD skin test to ensure that I'm healthy enough to work in the hospital. Well, my first one came up positive. So they sent me back to get another one. When the second one came up positive too, they were almost sure that I had tuberculosis (despite the fact that I very clearly do not). There was one exception for a positive reaction, and that is the BCG vaccine, administered in many countries outside the US to prevent to spread of tuberculosis. But my immunization records had no indication that I had ever gotten that vaccine. Thankfully, my mom keeps this folder of rather important documents. That very special folder contained my immunization records from the year I was born, which indicated that I had received a plethora of vaccinations whose names didn't even have designated blanks on the American immunization records. The first one listed was the BCG vaccine. Fortunately, that meant that I don't have TB and won't have to go through the chest x-rays and sputum tests and the 9-month regimen of antibiotics. Woohoo!

And if you're interested, apparently, I had gotten 7 doses of the same vaccine within 4 months of my birth, which kind of doesn't make sense to me. Oh well. I never cried when I got shots either, which purportedly led some of the nurses to call me the "affected child". xD
